Anghelika ELLIOTT Maddalena
Anghelika is the Director as well as teacher of the Toddler Play and Sprouts classes.
She grew up in Greece, then moved to Vermont where she received her BA in Theater Arts from Bennington College.
Anghelika soon moved to Los Angeles where she began her early childhood education teaching career. After a brief time in Cambridge (UK), she finally landed in the Bay Area in 1994 and obtained her Early Childhood Education Teaching Credential, Adult Education Credential and her Site Supervisor Permit. She has been teaching preschoolers - and their parents - on and off for the last 25 years.
A mom of two grown children and a veteran co-op parent, she is genuinely committed to supporting the cooperative community experience at SPNS - a place that is safe and nurturing for all families.
As an SPNS alumna, Catherine teaches the Explorers class.
Catherine earned a Bachelor of Science in Child Development and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from UC Davis. She taught second through fifth grade in the Mount Diablo and South San Francisco Unified School Districts. In 1999 she became a co-op mom starting at Little Hands with her daughter Kate and then joined SPNS in 2001. After her twin girls were born that same year she took a leave from teaching, but in 2006 when the girls entered kindergarten, Teacher Catherine was asked by the SPNS board to pilot the school’s Sprouts class for two year olds. This was a joyous return to the classroom and her first love, teaching preschool-aged children. In 2013 she moved to the Explorers class and loves the three and four year olds!
Catherine lives in San Carlos with her husband and three daughters and is so thankful to be part of such a wonderful and supportive community.
Lisa teaches the Pre-K Class.
She has 8 years experience in a preschool and co-op setting, as well as over 30 years working with children as a nanny, youth sports coach, after school sewing teacher, and arts teacher, as well as many years volunteering in her own children’s co-op nursery schools and PTA’s. Lisa has a degree in Interior Design from Canada College, but 8 years ago returned to her first love, children. She is still attending Canada College in order to further her ECE education. Lisa considers herself a life-long learner.
She loves to foster in children a joy and wonder at everything around them, and an inquisitive mind and kind heart, along with critical thinking and social skills. Lisa sees preschool as an opportunity to take on new challenges & learn in a warm caring environment, through creative play. The purpose: to build skills and strategies that will help them succeed not only in school but in life.
Lisa is the mother of two adult daughters and lives in San Mateo with her husband Mike, and 4 cats.
